Our machine learning pipeline starts with millions of raw GPS coordinates of mobile users. A first model estimates the places the users visited, the event they went to and the locations they passed by (eg. billboards). In addition, a user’s home and work location are estimated, the distances he travels per day, his transport modes etc. This data is used in our audience model which calculates all audiences of the users, eg. car commuters, Delhaize visitors or people ‘having kids’. Finally, all this information is analyzed to answer questions of our clients: What is the number of visits per day at my store? What kind of audiences do I attract more than my competitors? What was the impact of my last campaign?
To maintain, improve and extend our machine learning models, we are looking for an experienced machine learning engineer to join our team. You will report to our CTO and collaborate in a team of multiple data scientists. As a senior hire becoming our lead data scientist is part of your career opportunities.

At accurat.ai data is key for what we do. And we have lots of it! Our goal is to use this data to construct accurate real-world behaviour insights of mobile users. Data insights range from places and events users attend, in which context (eg. weather condition), to what estimated demographics they belong… all based on their real-world behaviour.
To make this possible, a lot of data has to be searched, collected, processed and kept up-to-date.
To help us with this great data challenge, we are looking for an enthusiast data engineer to join our team. The main responsibilities will be to construct pipelines to collect and clean data from the web (eg. real-time weather sources, government data…), in an optimal way so it can process large sets of data and keep it up-to-date.
You will report to our CTO and are part of the data team including data scientists and data engineers.

If you are looking for an internship that involves big data and allows you to prove your skills on real-world challenges, this internship might be the perfect fit.
We are currently providing internships focused on two different challenges:
1. Transport mode algorithm improvements
Our current transport algorithm detects when an individual is 'in vehicle', travelling 'by bike' or 'on foot'. To do so, we evaluate millions of coordinates on a daily basis. Coming from a pure feature engineering model, the current challenge is to improve the algorithm. You can put your knowledge about hidden markov chains or neural networks to the test. On top of that, we have access to the realtime coordinates of De Lijn (bus transport) to help improve detection of bus trips'. By mapping coordinates on railway roads, defining the 'in train' transport mode can be defined.
2. Proactive recommendations
Today, multiple metrics about customer loyalty, competitors visited by a brand's customers or popular hours (to name but a few) are calculated on a continuous basis. Too much information to see the forest for the trees... Your efforts will provide a prescriptive model that provides proactive recommendations on which metrics to evaluate in more detail. Using trend & anomaly detection models you create, you will evaluate & prioritize the metrics that needs our customers' attention.
